Every Decade Has a New Cheat Code… Engineers Just Keep Adapting
Technology changes the tools, but the ability to learn remains the ultimate advantage. The best engineers aren’t the ones who know everything — they’re the ones who keep evolving
Technology keeps changing the game — but the real skill has always been learning how to play the next one.

In the 1990s, understanding computers was the cheat code.
In the 2000s, understanding the internet was the cheat code.
In the 2010s, understanding the cloud was the cheat code.
And now?
Understanding how to work with AI is quickly becoming the new cheat code.
What's funny is that the profession hasn't changed.
The job title is still "Software Engineer."
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀.
An engineer who started their career 25 years ago has watched the rules change again and again.
Computers.
The internet.
Cloud.
AI.
At this point, being a software engineer means agreeing to re-learn your profession every few years.
Makes you wonder...
What will engineers in 2045 laugh at?
Maybe they'll look back at us the same way we look at people manually deploying code to production.
"Wait... you actually wrote the code yourself?"
